A Voice for

South County

Kevin Schartner is a proud resident of South County, first moving here nearly 30 years ago to start a 14 year career with Anheuser-Busch. Soon after moving to St. Louis, Kevin met Beth Ette and they married in 1998. They have two children, both of whom attended the Mehlville School District and graduated from Oakville High School in 2020 and 2022. They both currently attend Missouri State University.

Over his career, Kevin has held various positions that have helped prepare him for public service, including the management of multi-million dollar budgets, working with large teams, and people leadership.

Kevin first got involved with local politics when the Mehlville School District faced steep financial problems in 2015. Kevin joined the community driven “Prop R” campaign, becoming the treasurer and a member of the leadership team. Committee leadership ran a transparent education campaign, focused on facts and data, to educate their community about the district’s academic and financial situations. Prop R passed with over 72% of the vote.

Kevin then ran for the Mehlville Board of Education in 2016 to promote fiscal discipline, “Keep the Prop R promises” and support academic improvement. He served on the school board for 6 years, with the last 3 as Board President.

These experiences showed Kevin that he enjoyed public service and he is looking to continue to give back to South County as a representative on the St. Louis County Council. His primary focus areas are ensuring public safety, fiscal accountability and responsible growth. In addition, Kevin believes integrity and government transparency are important to creating a positive relationship between county government and our communities, and these will be hallmarks of his campaign and time in office.
